From Our Homes, To Yours
Both of Adorn's weaving studios are strategically placed in the heart of the villages where the weavers live. Kids run around from their house to the studio - imagine if you turned your garage into a workplace for everyone on your street. We're lowering our carbon footprint, creating ease for our weavers, & establishing a sense of true community with each knot.
100% live wool from sheep raised in Morocco. All of our wool currently comes from northern Morocco. We may source wool from a few different sources depending on the season.
Custom rug timelines are dependent on design, however our standard process is as follows:
Step 1: Pay Deposit
Step 2: Finalize Design. At this point once we have a final design, no changes can be made and lead time is 6 months from this date.
Step 3: dye wool, weave rug, & wash. Washing takes around 2 weeks in the summer and 6 weeks in the winter.
Step 4: Shipping from Morocco to USA (10-14 business days)
Step 5: Delivery to your home! If you are local to Steamboat our team will install the rug. If you live outside of Steamboat, your rug will be shipped UPS Ground and insured for the full price of the rug.
All of our custom rugs ship via UPS Ground complimentary to your door.
No, all custom orders are final sale.
All of our rugs are made in one of our two weaving studios in the Atlas Mountains of Morocco. One of our studios is outside of Ifrane, Morocco and the other is in M'Rirt, Morocco.
These villages produce some of the highest quality rugs in the world and have for centuries.
All of our rugs are either higher or medium pile carpets (meaning they have a pile). We also produce tightly woven kilims which are a flat weave.
Generally speaking, yes we are able to recreate vintage designs. However, we are not able to recreate the faded colors or worn pile.
If you have a vintage rug you'd like to recreate please submit it with the contact form at the bottom of the page.
Yes! Najoua, our leader on the ground in Morocco works with each of the weavers every day (except for Tuesday when she sabbaths:). Najoua is on staff here at Adorn and our funniest member of the team.
We currently have 24 weavers that work for us and we receive photos & videos of the ladies weaving each week!
We will periodically update you by sending along progress updates about your rug! We are also happy to share the names and stories of the weaver that is leading your rug. On large rugs we maybe have up to 8 women working together to produce your design.
Custom rug prices vary depending on designs & colors but all of our rugs start at $50/sq ft.
Our full time team here in Steamboat Springs, CO is made up of 5 of us: SaRa, Max, Jazzy, Harper, & Maggie.
Harper & SaRa run the rug production and will most likely be handling all of your communication. However, each member of our team is very well versed in the process.
Najoua will be handling all of the production process on the ground as well as Yamna & Fatiha who lead both our studios.
Wool rugs are incredibly resilient! Lots of people worry about having kids & dogs when they have a wool rug - however, our owner SaRa has spilled coffee, had sick dogs, and lived a lot on her rugs over the years and has been able to get all of them clean herself.
While they can't be thrown in your washer (and probably wouldn't fit anyway) we do have cleaning suggestions:
1. Spot Clean: using mild detergent (think Dr. Bronners) and warm water with a white washcloth (do not use a colored cloth) - you can gently clean dirt & stains from the wool.
2. Vacuum: our rugs are happily vacuumed. They will shed in your vacuum cleaner and do not use on boost or turbo mode but a gentle roller setting on your vacuum will do the trick for daily cleaning
3. Professionally Clean: rugs can be professionally cleaned by a local carpet cleaner or dry cleaner. Check with your local professional before proceeding with their services.
